Il s’agit d’une nouvelle génération de composites améliorés pour une mise en oeuvre par le biais d’une activation sonique (6 500 hz). Ce matériau est compatible avec l’ensemble des adhésifs automordançant ou en mordançage total. La mise en oeuvre sonique améliore l’adaptation du composite aux parois des cavités et offre non seulement un confort de travail appréciable, mais aussi une grande rapidité tout en préservant la qualité des obturations.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to present and describe the scanning electron microscopy (SEM) morphological results of bone particulated grafts after harvesting with four different instruments, in vitro. Materials and Methods: Bone particles were harvested from fresh cow ribs with two different types of back action chisels (I and II), a safe scraper and the SONICflex hand-piece (Kavo SONICflex, Biberach, Germany). The samples were stored in saline solution and examined morphologically with SEM. Results: The bone particles after the back action I had the appearance of small bony flakes with irregular rough borders. With the back action II, the bone chips were like thin paper- in an “accordion style” appearance. After removal with the safe scraper the bone had the morphology of larger irregular shape (with irregular surface) in a “crushed run stone” style. In contrast to that, the appearance of the bone particles after the use of SONICflex was more homogenous and condensed with continuity and looked like “seaweed style”. Conclusions: Harvesting of autogenous particulated bone grafts with the SONICflex-technology is a simple technique providing homogenous graft quality, which may be of significance for further bone healing.

A new hand-piece (Kavo SONICflex, Biberach, Germany) has been developed which uses high oscillation amplitude to produce precise bony incisions. In combination with the surgical tips (SONICflex bone) this device can be used in many clinical situations. Objectives: In this presentation we present the clinical applications of the SONICflex in implant dentistry. Materials and Methods: The SONICflex was evaluated in various procedures. These included: ridge augmentations, maxillary sinus augmentation, atraumatic tooth extractions as well as autogenous bone harvesting. Results: The SONICflex was able to make very precise incisions through bone and atraumatically separate teeth from their periodontal ligaments. All of these cases have healed uneventfully and successfully. The SONICflex technique is very straightforward and can simplify many complex aspects of implant dentistry. The advantages and disadvantages of this new innovative device will be illustrated with the clinical cases, including postoperative outcomes. Conclusion: The SONICflex is able to make precise incisions through bone and is a versatile instrument in modern implant dentistry.

Ständig sieht sich unsere Berufsgruppe mit der Notwendigkeit konfrontiert, Investitionen zu tätigen, sei es im Bereich der Verbrauchsmaterialien mit einer inzwischen unüberschaubar gewordenen Vielfalt oder im Bereich der zahnärztlichen „Hardware“, sprich der Praxisausstattung und des Instrumentariums. Auch in diesem Sektor ist die Zahl der Anbieter gewachsen und es locken immer neue, günstigere Angebote. Gerade hier aber sollte eine Investition gut durchdacht und mit Sorgfalt getätigt werden. Die Geräte und Instrumente, mit denen wir täglich arbeiten, müssen hohen Anforderungen genügen, stellen sie doch das technische Rückgrat einer Praxis dar.

Das Bibelzitat „Es werde Licht“ – es ist mir durch den Kopf geschossen, als ich die Prototyp-LED von KaVo (Biberach/Riß) in mein Comfortdrive- Winkelstück eingelegt und beim ersten Patienten auf den Fußanlasser gedrückt hatte. Es wurde Licht! „Multi LED – The Next Generation“, heißt es bei KaVo. In der Praxis ist es „a new generation“.

Vor der Anschaffung neuer Behandlungs- Instrumente gilt es stets sorgfältig abzuwägen, für welches Produkt man sich entscheidet. Die Entscheidung ist umso sorgfältiger zu prüfen, je höher die Investition dafür ausfällt. In meinem Fall ging es vor drei Jahren um die Frage, welche Hand-/Winkelstücke anzuschaff en waren. In die Entscheidungsfi ndung fl ossen mehrere Faktoren ein. Zum einen ist hier meine persönliche Erfahrung mit Produkten verschiedener Hersteller zu nennen. Ein weiterer Punkt ist die Qualität der Produkte bzw. deren Langlebigkeit/Serviceanfälligkeit .Desweiteren ist „Made in Germany“ ein wichtiges Kriterium für mich. Die Entscheidung fi el schlussendlich auf Produkte des Herstellers KaVo, da hier alle für mich relevanten Punkte positiv ausfi elen, speziell auf Instrumente der mittlerweile „Master Series“ genannten Linie. Sie bestechen durch extreme Laufruhe, geringes Arbeitsgeräusch und eine sehr gute Arbeitsfeldausleuchtung. Die Durchzugsleistung bei verschiedenen Drehzahlen und Anpreßdrücken ist ebenfalls hervorragend. Ergonomisch geformt sind die Instrumente der „Master Series“ ohnehin, auch hier sind sie schwer zu übertreff en. Andere Vorteile bemerkt man erst später - so habe ich in den vergangen drei Jahren keinen Tag Ausfall zu beklagen. Eine gute Pfl ege, wie z.B. durch die QuattroCare ist hierfür natürlich Voraussetzung. Daher hat sich für mich die Entscheidung für Instrumente der KaVo „Master Series“ als hervorragende Wahl bewiesen. Das Zitat von Henry Royce „Quality exists, when the price is long forgotten“ hat sich auch für mich bestätigt.

Seit einiger Zeit arbeite ich in meiner Zahnarztpraxis mit dem KaVo Comfortdrive- Instrument, einer neuen Schnellläufergeneration mit integriertem, kollektorlosem Antriebsmotor. Äußerlich erinnert das Comfortdrive an die Gentlepower- Instrumente. Die Oberfläche ist durch die spespezielle Plasmatec-Beschichtung hygienisch glatt und dennoch sehr griffig. Durch die robuste Beschichtung sieht das Instrument selbst nach häufigem Sterilisieren, Desinfizieren und intensiver mechanischer Belastung noch immer neuwertig aus.
